Hello!

Just a friendly reminder of the Pre-Veterinary Club meeting today from 6:30pm-7:30pm in meeting room A on the third floor of the JC.

We hope to see you there!

Thank you so much to everyone who came and helped out at our third Animal Spa Day at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington! We had a great turnout and some very sweet animals, including a dog named Kitty and a dog named Chicken! Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success!

From September to November 2012, we are teaming up with the Prehealth Honor Society of GMU and the Pre-dental Society of GMU to help out people and pets in need! We will be accepting donations for the Humane Society of Fairfax County's Ani-meals program:

"Ani-Meals is our pet food pantry. It offers pet food and related pet care items to residents of Fairfax County, and the surrounding area, who may require assistance during these difficult economic times. This important program provides pet-related support for people who face financial difficulties or unforeseen situations such as job loss, illness or loss of the family’s key provider.  We recognize that pets provide a great source of comfort during difficult times such as these, and are working to ensure families are able to keep their companions with them rather than being forced to surrender them to an already burdened shelter or rescue organization.  On designated days, pet food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis."-http://www.hsfc.org/ani-meals.html

They are in need of dry/canned pet food, treats and cat litter.

In addition, we will be accepting gently used items to donate to the HSFC's thrift stores:
"The Humane Society of Fairfax County (HSFC) depends upon the proceeds of our two thrift stores to assist with the substantial and ever-increasing costs of medical care for our rescued animals. Additionally, this funding helps support the general feeding and care of the animals while they await their new loving families."

They are accepting "Household items, toys, books and [clean] clothing that can be sold without repair."-http://www.hsfc.org/thrift_1.html

Pre-veterinary club members will receive points for donating. Come to a meeting or contact Jessica at [email protected] to donate items. If you are not a member but still wish to donate you may visit the HSFC website for directions to their locations: http://www.hsfc.org/thrift_1.html

To donate to the Ani-meals program as a non-pre-veterinary club member, you can visit: http://www.hsfc.org/ani-meals.html

Thank you for caring!
