Hey Pre-veterinary Professionals! I hope everyone is well rested and ready for a new school year! The schedule for the 2012 fall semester has just been finalized and is as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6:30pm (room is TBA): Our first meeting of the 2012 fall semester! Officers will go over a brief introduction of the club and cover topics such as community involvement, volunteer opportunities and membership requirements. Our Vice President, Meadhbh Molloy, will be giving a presentation on a surprise parasite/host relationship that you won't want to miss!

Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 pm (room is TBA): We will discuss our Halloween event (details TBA!!!) and our Treasurer, Kalinda Gupta, will be speaking on a topic that spans multiple careers: Animal/wildlife conservation. If you are considering a career in animal conservation or want to learn how you can help wildlife, mark your calendar for this event!

Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 pm (room is TBA): The topic of this meeting will be careers in Animal welfare where we will
explore various options for those who are unsure about a career in Veterinary medicine or who need to formulate a good back up plan that still leads them to a career involving a passion for animals!

Thursday, December 6 at 6:30pm (room is TBA): This will be our last meeting of the semester! We will have pizza and watch a movie (to be voted on) to take a break before finals.

We will also have two more Spa-day events (one in september, one in november) where we will be trimming nails/brushing out pets of all types in exchange for donations at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA). All donations will go to AWLA. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for homeless pets as well as make a difference in the community! Details are TBA, so stay tuned!

Last but not least, we will have booth's at both Patriot Premiere (Friday, August 24 from 7:30pm-9:30pm) and Connection Carnival (Wednesday, August 29 from 10:30 am-3:00 pm). These events are organization fairs where we will have the opportunity to advertise our organization as well as socialize with fellow students. Members will receive 3 points per hour to volunteer at our booth for either of these events. If you would like to help out, please contact Jessica Magnotti at [email protected].

All right, I think that's it:) Enjoy the rest of your summer!
